OTTO’s opportunity:

Our Senior System Engineer will provide the business knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products, and build upon an infrastructure that supports the ever-changing needs of our customers. Senior System Engineer will work with complex systems, designing, developing, and integrating them at every stage of their life cycle. Identify and drive the induction of future technology updates, as well as new technology inductions to resolve current/pending obsolescence issues on existing fielded systems.

Specifically, the Senior System Engineer will:

  • Lead multi-disciplined engineering teams from system design through integration and test of highly complex technical systems
  • Generate and update system and sub-system level specifications, including requirements traceability, creation of verification traceability (tracing requirements to test plans/procedures/results), and update and maintenance of system drawings and documents
  • Selecting Microprocessors, Planning and Architecting Software Integrating, debugging and testing embedded systems
  • Recommend and assist in the selection of Software Development Tools
  • Establish the software architecture (state-machine, RTOS, etc) before coding
  • Designing interfaces to other devices using digital or wireless protocols
  • Participating in new product Ideation and developing new IP
  • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned
  • Present and participate in System, Software, and Hardware Design Reviews
  • Assist with other duties as required or assigned

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

  • BS degree in electrical, embedded systems engineering, firmware engineering, or related technical degree with at least 9 years of related experience
  • MS degree in electrical, embedded system engineering, firmware engineering, or related technical degree with at least 7 years of related experience
  • Prior experience designing hardware, firmware, and programming software to best allocate functions for each product
  • Experience in the design, development, and test, or sustainment of tactical and mission-critical electronic systems
  • Strong Embedded C and C++ skills, Knowledge of Java, or App Design is a plus
  • Understanding of Electrical Hardware including the ability to read schematics, evaluate hardware-software tradeoffs, and write minimal code to resurrect early hardware
  • Experience in all phases of product development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution
  • Experience designing Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Experience designing Audio Signal Processing Algorithms is a plus
  • Experience implementing Bluetooth and other wireless protocols is a plus
  • Familiarity with communications products and accessories (Land Mobile Radios, Cellphones, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Excellent resourcefulness and debugging skills
