OTTO’s opportunity:

Our Research and Development Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation and development of new technologies that will help lead us into the future. You will work closely with our Sales and Engineering teams to create prototype products that can be used for internal and external evaluation. To be successful as a Research and Development Engineer, you should have strong verbal communication skills, have a varied background in Electrical, Software and Mechanical engineering disciplines along with a strong desire to work in a laboratory environment.

Specifically, the Research and Development Engineer will:

Develop new products utilizing the equipment in our R&D laboratory. This includes 3D printers, SMT equipment, hand tools and test equipment.
Evaluate emerging or complimentary technologies that support and advance our core products.
Review competitor’s product offerings / introductions to understand market direction.
Research emerging companies / technologies to determine trends.
Procure new products to evaluate potential applications in OTTO products.
Help define our long-term product roadmap.
Create fully functional prototypes for engineering and customer evaluation.
Visit customers to understand their future needs.
Present monthly reviews to the senior management on development activities.
Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

A minimum of 5 years New Product Development experience
Hands-on electrical expertise including PCBA layout
Software experience
BS in Engineering – EE, SW, ME
Manufacturing experience
